According to the Indian broadsheet DNA, Domino's Pizza is ramping up to open 100 new stores in India by next spring, bringing their total to 700.

Shyam S. Bhartia, chairman of Jubilant FoodWorks—the company that owns the exclusive rights for Domino's in India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka—went into some of the reasons behind the expansion.

The idea, apparently, is to appeal to what Shyam terms "tier-II and tier-III cities", where vast swathes of "aspirational brand customers" await, eager for the chance to participate in globalization. Which is why most of the new stores will be opening up in places we've most likely never heard of, such as Baramati and Cuttack.

Jubilant Foodworks recently opened their 600th store in Vasant Kunj, a wealthy neighborhood in Delhi. This new Domino's debuted their "Pizza Theatre" concept, which features an open display kitchen.

According to Steven Pizziol—VP Asia Pacific of Domino's Pizza—these new store openings will make India the second largest market for the company after the US, and the fastest-growing in the world.

Thought they don't compare (how could they?) to the insane fabulousness of Scott Oelkers' Japanese ads, I thought I'd leave you all with one of India's Domino's Pizza commercials.
