As Eater's new National Pizza 38 demonstrates, while there may be a preponderance of fantastic pizzerias in places like New York and Chicago, we live in a country where first-class pies can be had nearly anywhere.
For a list that focused on the "new classics", Eater consulted a diverse panel of pizza enthusiasts and professionals. Panelists often clashed and rarely agreed, but when a general consensus was reached—or a passionate enough argument was made—a restaurant would be added or vetoed.
