This is the big one. After 2 1/2 years on the scene, it's finally time to tackle one of the most contentious food issues in Chicago: who serves the best deep dish pizza? We're not the least bit interested in debating the merits of the style, or whether you even think it deserves to be called pizza. All we want to know is where we should go to find the ultimate version of this iconic dish.
Earlier this year, we dipped our toes in the extra cheesy topic by sampling a range of frozen deep dish pizzas, but now it's time to really go for it. Over the next month or so, we'll be revisiting as many deep dish joints in town as we possibly can.
Where should we go? Obviously, we have the big three on the list: Uno's, Lou Malnati's, and Pizano's. But are there other places we have to try? Should we include Giordano's in the running, even though it technically it serves stuffed pizza, not deep dish? And what about the pan pizza you'll find at Burt's Place and Pequod's? Okay, that's enough questions for now. We're looking forward to hearing from all of you, and wish us luck!
