From Serious Eats

In this great nation of ours, one could eat a different sandwich every day of the year—so that's what we'll do. Here's A Sandwich a Day, our daily look at sandwiches around the country. Got a sandwich we should check out? Let us know. —The Mgmt.

The Pizza Grill ($9) from The Grilled Cheese in Kensington Market is so true to its name that it could just have easily been reviewed as a Daily Slice. Between slices of bread spread with basil pesto, a think blanket of provolone cheese covers crunchy bits of bacon, spinach, and bouncy cremini mushrooms tossed with pizza sauce. The end effect: a grilled cheese sandwich that tastes remarkably like pizza.

From a technical standpoint, it's impressive. The bread is generously buttered, which transforms it to a uniform golden brown on the griddle, and even though some mushrooms are bound to tumble out, it stays intact surprisingly well for a sandwich that is so stacked.

You can get your grilled cheese (which comes with complimentary chips and a pickle) to stay, but the picnic table outside is my preferred spot. It's front-row seating to the constant parade of local colo(u)r in the Market, which can include everything from Rastas to hipsters to a neo-hippie girl who sings for change, using a carrot as a microphone. You don't want to miss any of that.
