Jason and Ali O'Toole of the Cape Cod mobile wood-fired oven pizza operation Pizza Barbone (mentioned in the United States of Pizza: Massachusetts), have gone brick and mortar and added one more Stefano Ferrara imported oven to the States. And god bless em for that. Nothing communicates dedication to the craft like sparing no expense on the tools. Those that are regular readers of Slice, or the sort that obsess over ovens, will know that the Ferrara family has been building ovens for over 100 years from the volcanic ash and mud of Mt. Vesuvius. For those new to the Ferrara name, think of them (as dubbed in a review earlier today by Sotto owner Zach Pollack) as the Bugatti of the oven world.
Pizza Barbone opened it's doors June 15th and has been firing what looks like gorgeous leopard-spotted pies for just over a month now. To learn more about their operation, check out this video from their Kickstarter project:
