Daily Slice gives a quick snapshot each weekday of a different slice or pie that the folks at the Serious Eats empire have enjoyed lately.
We're big fans of the sandwiches at midtown lunch spot Cer Té, as well as their Italian Wedding Pizza. So we couldn't resist trying a few more slices.
We chose two of their Baker's pizzas, a rectangular shaped pizza with a slightly crumbier bottom and thinner crust than the average New York slice. We loved the pomodoro, an inverted pizza with the cheese on the bottom and the tomato sauce on top. Fresh mozzarella was layered in just the right amount, and the sauce was deliciously tangy and full of tomato flavor.
We also had their 'Shrooms slice, which was topped with roasted wild mushrooms, porcini bechamel and thyme. This was tasty, but wasn't at the same level as the pomodoro: it lacked substantial flavor, like more could have been done with the mushrooms (or maybe we just wish it had some of that great sauce).
The crust on both pizzas was nicely chewy and plenty flavorful, although the subway ride we put them through had made the bottom go slightly soggy. All in all, another good lunch from Cer Té.
